The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) is offering FY2007 awards to individuals in these categories:
Visual Arts ▪ Media Arts ▪ Solo Dance Performance ▪ Choreography by an Individual ▪ History or Social Sciences ▪ Historical, Critical or Theoretical Approaches to the Arts
Free workshops on how to apply will be held in Silver Spring on Thursday, May 11 at 7pm and in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, May 16 at 7pm.
Please note that an applicant must:
Have a minimum of four years of achievement in the art or humanities discipline in the category in which s/he is applying; Have been a resident of Montgomery County for at least 12 months prior to submitting the application; Not be a student pursuing a degree.
The application deadline is Tuesday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. Funds are awarded for use between November 2006 and June 30, 2007. For more information, directions and to register for a workshop, call 301-565-3805 or send an e-mail to grants@creativemoco.com

SEVENTH ANNUAL BETHESDA LITERARY FESTIVAL - APRIL 28 - APRIL 30.
Please visit www.Bethesda.org for more information about all of the FREE events taking place during the literary festival in downtown Bethesda.
On Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, the Fraser Gallery will host 3 events. All are free and open to the public.
On Saturday, April 29 from 7pm - 9pm, Frank Warren will discuss his best selling book, PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives.
On Sunday, April 30 at 12pm, Barbara Kline will discuss her behind-the-scenes memoir White House Nannies and at 1.30pm, local photographer Grace Taylor will talk about her experiences in eastern Tibet, where she spent a month in 1999. She will answer questions and introduce her newly published book, A Tibetan Odyssey, which contains many images and comments from her journal. When Taylor had a show of her Tibet images in Baltimore, Glenn McNatt, art critic of the Baltimore Sun, wrote, "The art of photojournalism lives in the strong, black and white works of Grace Taylor."
