THE CENTER FOR FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY 2004 Juried International Photographic Exhibition

The Center for Fine Art Photography is hosting its 2004 juried Fine Art
Photography Exhibition. The mission of the Center is to promote photography as fine art, to support photographers through its educational programs and to inform the public about the collectible value of this art form.

The selected works will be on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) main gallery in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, during the height of the region’s arts season, drawing visitors from throughout the country. The exhibition runs from June 29 through August 21, 2004.

The exhibition is open to professional and amateur photographers, for all forms of fine art photography created in black and white or color, using traditional or digital methods or elements of both processes. Deadline: 15 April 2004.

Photoworks at Glen Echo will host Digital Dialogue Evenings. Photographers will discuss why they use digital photography to create their work. When: Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 8:30 pm.

The guest speaker will be Ferdinand Protzman, former art critic for the Washington Post and author of ‘Landscape; Photographs of Time and Place,’ a beautiful new book that investigates the ongoing evolution of landscape photography. The City of Gaithersburg Cultural Arts Committee is accepting applications for its 2004 - 2005 exhibition season. Individuals or groups may apply for an exhibiton at four possible venues; The Gaithersburg Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion, The Activity Center at Bohrer Park or the second floor gallery at City Hall. Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District Announces 2nd Annual Trawick Prize $14,000 in Prize Money to be Awarded

The Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District is accepting submissions for The Trawick Prize: Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards. The 2nd annual juried art competition awards $14,000 in prize money to four selected artists. Deadline for slide submission is Friday, May 21, 2004 and up to fifteen artists will be invited to display their work from September 7, 2004 - October 2, 2004 in downtown Bethesda at Creative Partners Gallery.

The 2004 competition will be juried by Jeffrey W. Allison, the Paul Mellon Collection Educator at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA; Peter Dubeau, Associate Dean of Continuing Studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Kristen Hileman, Assistant Curator at the Hirshhorn.

The first place winner will be awarded $10,000, second place will be honored with $2,000 and third place will be awarded $1,000. A young artist whose birth date is after May 21, 1974 will be awarded $1,000.

Multiple Exposures Gallery at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria has an opening for a new member. Interested applicants should contact the gallery at 703-683-2205 for an application. Portfolio reviews will take place at the gallery between April 17 and April 24.
