Call for exhibition proposals. Open to all artists living and working in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. There is no entry fee. Deadline January 9, 5pm. A juried panel will select artists and create nine exhibits to be placed into the 2005 calendar. If more than 125 entries are received, the City reserves the right to implement a two-tiered panel review to ensure an appropriate review of all applications. The Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District is accepting applications for the 2004 Bethesda Fine Arts Festival, an outdoor fine art and fine craft festival that will take place in the Woodmont Triangle area of Bethesda, Maryland. The festival will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16. 150 booth spaces are available, $275 for a 10' x 10' booth, $25 application fee. All original fine art and fine crafts are eligible, no mass produced or commercially manufactured products are allowed. $2,500 in prize money. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2004. The Hall Farm Center for Arts & Education, located in Townshend, Vermont is accepting applications for its 2004 summer residency program. Residencies are offered to artists at all stages of their careers, including fiction and non-fiction writers, poets, painters, sculptors, playwrights, photographers, musicians, and performers. The time is an opportunity to work, relax, reflect, and be inspired by the quiet refuge of the Vermont countryside. The Hall Farm is located on a 221-acre, 200-year-old former farm in the southeast corner of the state, approximately 4 hours from New York City and 2½ hours from Boston. It contains miles of hiking trails, woods, open fields, and a swimming pond. Residents are housed in their own rooms in a renovated 1830's farmhouse and are provided with private studio space. Residencies range from one week to one month. There is no cost to artists except materials, transportation, and $20 application fee. Deadline for application is February 2, 2004, with notification in early April. Creative Capital will be accepting proposals for grants in visual arts and film/video. Creative Capital has implemented a new application process: to apply for a grant, artists must first submit an Inquiry Form, which will be available February 16, 2004 on www.creative-capital.org/application. The deadline for completed inquiry forms is March 15, 2004; those invited to apply will be notified in June 2004.

Touchstone Gallery announces its 6th Annual International All Media Exhibition, February 11 through March 7, 2004. Juror: Joe Shannon, a former curator of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC. A well-known artist and writer, Shannon currently teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He is a reviewer for Art in America and writes art related stories for The Washington Times. Entry fee of $30.00 for up to three works. Deadline: Wednesday, December 17. Black and White, a custom printing lab and gallery, is planning a winter photography exhibit called Weather or Not. They would love to show your most harrowing or sublime encounters of the meteorological kind. The Washington School of Photography is holding a juried photography competition. The competition is open to female photographers only. The theme of the competition is The Female Perspective, subject matter must showcase a female gender perspective. Entry fee $25. Deadline is January 23, 2004. Exhibtion opens on March 12, 2004. The Secondsight Annual Holiday Dinner will be held on Wednesday, December 17th at Positano Italian Restaurant, 4940 Fairmont Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814. Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 6.30pm until 7.15pm. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm.
