WINTER 2005 CLASS SCHEDULE

HFA11: BASIC PHOTOSHOP - (5 sessions - 20 hours) $375

BASIC PHOTOSHOP is designed to teach Photoshop fundamentals so you can accomplish the same tasks on the computer that are traditionally done in the darkroom. You will learn to crop, adjust contrast and density, alter color balance, remove scratches, flaws, and much more. Photoshop is not difficult to learn, however, the many options can make it overwhelming for the beginner. Classes are small to allow for individualized instruction, and each student will be assigned a computer with Photoshop installed to use during class. The small group, hands-on environment, minimizes the frustrations that can accompany the learning process.

Wed mornings, Jan 19 - Feb 23; 9:00am - 1:00pm
Wed evenings, Jan 19 - Feb 23; 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Tue evenings, Apr 5 - May 10; 6:00pm - 10:00pm

HFA16: INTERMEDIATE PHOTOSHOP - (5 sessions - 20 hours) $395

After gaining an understanding of Photoshop fundamentals in BASIC PHOTOSHOP, you will be eager to take the next step. INTERMEDIATE PHOTOSHOP helps you master Photoshop features and tools that will help you to improve your images. There will be opportunities to use your creative energy, and perhaps even take a risk or two, while learning sophisticated methods for editing, enhancing and printing your images. We will discuss how to optimize color and black & white images, and how to use effectively Photoshop's layer function, layer masking, bend modes, image sharpening and more.

Tue mornings, Apr 5 - May 10; 9:00pm - 1:00pm

HFA21: OPEN LAB - (4 sessions - 16 hours) $260

This Lab provides students with the opportunity to edit and print archival images in a color-managed environment and receive technical advice and support as requested. Students should have a general understanding of how to edit and print in Photoshop and be comfortable with basic editing commands such as Levels, Curves, Hue & Saturation, and the print dialog boxes. While there is no formal instruction available during the OPEN LAB, an instructor will be available to answer questions and provide suggestions for effective methods to achieve the results you desire.
Fri mornings, Jan 21 - Feb 18; 9:30am - 1:30pm
Fri mornings, Apr 29 - May 20; 9:30am - 1:30pm

(Note - no classes the weeks of Jan 24 - 31, 2005)
